The Runway is Premiering at the Irish Film Festival Boston on Friday, March 25

The 12th annual Irish Film Festival Boston (March 24-27) continues its film festival tonight, February 25, with a showing of Runway, directed by Ian Power, at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square, Somerville, at 7:30 p.m.

The film is inspired by the true story of a South American pilot who crashed his plane near Mallow, Co. Cork in 1983. Against all odds, the people of the town came together to build a runway to get him home and briefly caught the imagination of the nation.

Born 180 years ago on June 28, 1844, John Boyle O’Reilly helped shape the history or Ireland and America in the late 19th century in powerful ways.
